Background

Bergman Photographic Services, Inc. is a service-oriented aerial photography firm specializing in precision mapping and custom oblique photography. For over 30 years, BPS has been providing the West with quality imaging services.

Operations center on the Northwest states with projects routinely throughout the West and occasional trips to SE Alaska, California and points east. Our versatile fleet of five aircraft are based at Aurora, Oregon, a full service instrument approach airport only a short drive from our main office in Portland, Oregon.

We are proud to offer the latest in digital imaging technology, having recently acquired a Microsoft UltraCam prime. A Zeiss TOP-15 6 inch camera, Zeiss TOP-30 12 inch camera and a Zeiss RMK-A 6 inch offer Forward Motion Compensated images. These cameras interchange with our Zeiss RMK-A 12 inch and Wild RC-10 8.25 inch and 3.5 inch cones. The aircraft are equipped with GPS systems to guide the track accurately and offer services such as triggering, data logging IMU and Airborne Control. With our range of aircraft and four focal lengths options we can routinely offer photo scales from 1 inch=50 feet to 1 inch=8,000 feet.

Flight crews at BPS always consist of two individuals at a minimum. We feel the role of the pilot is to fly the aircraft in a safe manner and to the highest course and altitude standards possible. The camera operator can devote full attention to keeping the camera level, adjusting crab angle, maintaining accurate end lap, monitoring exposure levels, as well as verifying or guiding the course of the aircraft with reference to the official flight map. Film and filter changes during flight are easily accomplished by the camera operator without the safety concerns that plague one-person crews. It is truly a team effort and two people can definitely do a better job than one.

Our lab is an integral part of the success of our company. We process our C41/AN6 color film in-house to ensure rapid service for our customers. Many projects have been flown, processed, printed or scanned and delivered in one day. Our lab produces contact prints, film positives and enlargements up to 50 inch wide. Enlargements are produced digitally with a Chromira 50 inch LED printer allowing full digital control and print lengths limited only by the file size. BPS maintains a film library of the Metro Portland area that dates back to 1961 in B&W, color and CIR, while accessing several public and private libraries that date back to 1936.

BPS customers are predominantly consultants and mapping firms that use our services rather than maintain their own costly flight departments or call on us to supplement their own aerial photography capabilities, often saving a considerable amount of time and money in the process. Several government agencies use our services on a repetitive basis both through long term contracts and specific competitive bids. We have led the Northwest in versatility of operations and high quality standards. We will continue to offer the best blend of quality, innovation, reliability and service in a cost-effective package.
